On August 31, our own Sr. Patrice du Sacré Coeur reached the amazing milestone of 25 years as a professed Little Sister, and to mark the occasion, a two-day celebration took place here at our Home that left her smiling for many days following. Family, friends, Residents, and many Little Sisters that traveled from our homes throughout the New York and Northeast regions came to our Home here in Somerville to help her celebrate. They almost did not recognize the place upon their arrival, as our Home had been transformed to look like a giant Fair. With balloons, carnival games, and a make-shift ferris wheel adorning the place, everyone knew it would be a Jubilee to remember.
The celebration started with a show put on by Residents, Staff and Volunteers depicting scenes from the life of our Jubilarian. Sr. Patrice’s parents were able to attend and brought old photographs of the young Sr. Patrice that were a treasure to behold.
Lovely meals were served to the Residents and guests, and on the second day, a beautiful Mass was celebrated in our flower-adorned chapel, where Sr. Patrice renewed her vows.
The celebration ended with carnival games galore! There were games throughout the grounds that allowed participants to try for prizes. There was a magician, a woman on stilts, a couple of clowns, even a small carnival-like car that drove Residents and Sisters around the grounds on “joy-rides.” Everyone left full of cotton-candy, corn dogs and popcorn, and many with prizes tucked under their arms. The Residents seemed to fully enjoy all of the activity and fun.
We wish blessings upon Sr. Patrice as she sets out to serve another 25 years as a Little Sister and thank her for her service and the many lives that she has touched and made better in her last 25 years.
